Gateway Lifestyle completed their first comprehensive Resident Survey earlier this year. It was designed to be a broad-ranging health check on social and environmental factors and perceptions that affect residents’ quality of life.
Topics that were covered by the questions included:
- Health and wellbeing
- Safety and security
- Community connectedness
- Engagement in activities & recreation
- Environmental factors.
The survey results has helped us better understand the issues that are important to our residents. It is clear that they value the sense of community, the role of community managers and their overall wellbeing. We were encouraged to see that 70% felt their wellbeing had improved since moving into a Gateway Lifestyle Community – with a positive result of 72% rating their welfare as “great”.
Safety and security were also noted as key factors by a third of the respondents, with 95% of residents responding that they feel safer living in their Gateway Lifestyle communities.
The results also highlight some pressing day to day concerns of residents, in particular the rising cost of utilities. We are focused on ways this can be addressed over the long term. The communities’ convenient locations and the easy access to transport has had a positive effect on our residents’ mobility, and results indicate that 75% of residents visit local amenities outside their community regularly, and 93% are happy with the level of accessibility around the community facilities.
Finally and most importantly, 89% of our current residents are happy to recommend moving into a Gateway Lifestyle community to a friend or relative.
Thank you for all those residents who took part in this survey. We intend to further expand the resident survey in 2018 to another group of Gateway Lifestyle communities, keep a lookout for the notification so you can join in, we value your feedback.
